Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red. Lots of sweet cereal grain and just a little green clippings: impressive ripeness for a second wine in this vintage, though no great fruited charm. The overall effect is a little tinned as far as the fruit is concerned. In the mouth, this has ample acidity rather oddly combined with some very ripe fruit flavors; it’s a little deficient in tannin, by contrast. Despite the acidity, there is a kind of lack of freshness here. A slightly strange wine best consumed soon. Now to 2019. 84
Michael Schuster: Lightly sweet ripe fruit and oak-cedar nose; light, brisk, gently fruity, and moderately tannic for the fruit core that is there; not bad, but overall a tad severe. Modest in scope and medium in length; not much joy here! Now to 2023. 85
