Andrew Jefford: Dark black-red, not far off opacity. Excellent aromatic ripeness for the year: compared to most of its Pauillac and St-Julien peers, this has a breadth, a warmth, and a friendliness that almost seems to come from a different vintage. That is reflected in the palate, too, which is round and almost exuberant in terms of its fruit. This is a less tannic wine than many of its top-flight peers, but that is perhaps not a bad strategy in 2013 as the combination of acidity and tannin can be a frightening one. 2018–25. 91
Michael Schuster: Dense and ripe-fruited to smell; full, firm, fresh, tannic; a relatively long-term structure; freshly ripe, savory, long, and complex to taste within a firm tannic structure, and long, sweet, and aromatic to finish. Firm, ample, classic Pauillac proportions, allied to 2nd-growth scope. A particularly fine 2013, but which will need a decade and more in bottle. 2030–40+. 92
