BUY THE WINE

Michael Schuster: Mid-color; brick-hued; early maturity to smell; earth and undergrowth rather than fruit; elegant and ripe to taste, but the firm, not absolutely ripe 1995 tannins impinge on the slightly dry, slightly attenuated fruit. Likely always to be a bit dry-edged in style; not my personal preference. I’m not sure this will ever be really harmonious, though food would temper its texture. 2010–30. 16+
