Stephen Brook: Opaque red. Dense nose, mint and black cherries, but rather stewed and has a raisiny character. Rich and dense, rather chunky, as the tannins have a suave attack but then reveal a more ferocious grip. Modest acidity, and lacks some lift, so the finish is blunt and even raw. Medium length. Pomerol? 15
Andrew Jefford: Saturated black-red. Leggy, too. Very oaky, dense, dark, and refined. Whatever it is, it’s new wave! Lush, sweet, a touch raisiny, late-harvest style. Lacks a bit of tannic mass and depth of fruit. Pomerol last harvest or St-Emilion plateau late harvest; more a style wine than a vin de terroir. 15
Hugh Johnson: Deeper, edge to edge. Creamy summer pudding. Almost Burgundian. Strawberries and currants more than richness of plums. Oak caramel lingers. Surprisingly mellow; touch of caramel. High and long on the palate, but short on the finish. 15
