Stephen Brook: Very deep red, with some evolution as expected. The nose has some aromas of coffee and plums, but it is discreet and the fruit is subdued—indeed, thick and lacking in aromatic lift, with a savory tone that coarsened with aeration. Medium-bodied and distinctly savory, with more vigor than the nose, and flavors of truffles, black cherries, plums, and chocolate. Although the wine certainly has complexity, it doesn’t really carry through on to the finish. Moderate length.
