Stephen Brook: Deep red, though with considerable browning on the rim. Smoky, mushroomy nose, but some sweet fruit comes through, and it does have some aromatic lift. The palate still has sweetness and intensity, which do vigorous battle with the grippy tannins. Tight, and with plenty of acidity, this is a good 1975, with no astringency. Very attractive now, and though it is ready, it will hold. Moderate length.
