Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Earthy nose, black cherries. These aromas slumber in the glass. Medium-bodied, not too extracted, wears its tannins lightly, and has a modicum of freshness. Neither concentrated nor deep, but delivers straightforward black fruits with a restrained tannic underpinning. But it’s hard to see this aging gracefully. Drink soon for its undemanding fruit and moderate persistence of flavor. 14.5
Stephen Browett: Deep color, impressively black at the center. A powerful nose with some lovely vanilla oak. On the palate the cassis fruit is really supple and fleshy, with a creamy texture. Charming and smooth but very good density, too. Will be delicious in its youth. The best young Talbot I have ever tasted. 16
Michael Schuster: Dark red; ripe fruit and mineral nose; medium-full, moderately concentrated, rather fluid cored and with a firm, but not coarse tannin; that said, a fairly chewy texture round a ripe, straightforward fruit, with a good medium-length finish. Pleasantly fruity, not much “class.” Will drink relatively early. From 2010. 15
