Stephen Brook: Very deep red. Rich, smoky, black fruits nose, but a touch cooked. Fairly rich, juicy, plenty of upfront fruit, fresher than the nose suggests. Concentrated and spicy, has some vigor despite the broad texture. It’s not subtle or especially persistent, but it has some drive and flair and better length than most. 16.5

Stephen Browett: A good dark color with just a little fade. Fragrant, spicy nose. On the palate this is beautifully polished. Plenty of real Pauillac density but the black fruit is wrapped up in a cloak of cashmere. Serious yet silky. A fabulous performance from Duhart, certainly far better than the more expensive Carruades. 16.5

Michael Schuster: Dark red; fine, cedary nose to smell; persistent, minerally; elegantly balanced, medium-full wine, firmly, but finely textured; nicely balanced in the vintage, with a fairly complex, ripe fruit at its heart, good length across the palate, a clear Médoc minerality, and good fruit and aroma persistence. Clear class within the 2003 severity, but not coarse, and looking promising for the longish term. From 2015. 16
