Stephen Brook: Very deep red, almost opaque. Sweet oaky nose, very ripe and almost voluptuous, with very ripe though not jammy fruit. Rich and lush, with real weight of fruit and no jamminess; firm but not harsh tannins, and considerable grip and concentration. Indeed, the tannins have an appealing chewiness that helps sustain the fruit, which is just as well as the acidity is fairly low. This, unlike many other 2003s, will benefit from further aging, as there is no doubting the depth of fruit. Quite good length. 17.5
Stephen Browett: Quite a deep color. Spice and cassis on the nose. The palate has lots of blackcurrant fruit with a well rounded, polished texture. Not too dense, needs a few years but is fairly forward. Fine balance and certainly good if not absolutely great.16.5
Michael Schuster: Dark red; nice combination of ripe fruit and minerals to smell; characteristically rich, fleshy and fruity within the firm tannin; vivid ripe fruit to taste, flavory, quite complex, long across the palate, all within the typical tannin severity of the year; good fruit length; not grand, but plump and savory and attractive. From 2015.16.5
