Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: Tasted at the château. One of the great successes of the vintage, and a wine that may please devoted fans of the Latour style more than Latour itself. For here is the affirmation, dense, direct and noble, of its great aromas of cedar and tobacco, which impress from the very first sniff, and the corresponding power on the palate. The wine is born all at once and perfectly formed, with neither artifice nor caprice. 18.5/19
Michael Schuster: Inky; very Cabernet to smell, spicy, raw blackcurrant; elegantly balanced, fresh, finely tannic, moderately concentrated wine; very linear in style, but with a gently fleshy core of crisply sweet ripe fruit, long, close-grained, minerally, and complex within the firm Pauillac tannin; long and scented and spicy to finish. A fine, firm, aristocratic Pichon-Baron. An ’07 that will need a bit of time. 2018–30. 16.5/17
