Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve: L’Evangile nouveau has arrived—a superb testament to the all-out efforts of the Lafite-Rothschild winemaking team. Deep color, exceptional fruit, and a mellow, concentrated body with a backbone of silky but taut tannins. Very refined and beautifully fresh. Definitely the loveliest Evangile this century. 18.5

Michael Schuster: Dense, fresh, chocolaty, spicy Merlot nose with a touch of new-oak toast and clear minerality; a rich middleweight, fresh in acidity, fine in tannin; not big or fleshy, but with a very pure, sweet, and subtle fruit core; fresh, refreshing, long, and scented to taste, long and spicy to finish. 2018–30. 17/17.5
