Michael Schuster: (bottled 1994) Deep amber; lovely nose of caramel and crystallized violets and gentle smokiness; fairly full, concentrated, and relatively round for a Madeira; deep in flavor, with a very individual, caramelized sugar, crystallized violets, and faintly burned taste, but still a lovely fruit, too, and relatively fleshy within the acidity. Long and mouth-coating, with great generosity and lovely, smoky, resonant aromatic length. Overall, great class and harmony. Splendid and delicious. Gorgeous now, decades in hand. 19
