BUY THE WINE

Jesús Barquín: Obvious dill nose in a menthol context, with some vegetal notes, likely due to the oak use. The palate is well structured, light but solid, long with a final note of candied orange peel harmonized with spicy dill. 16.5

Simon Field: Slightly unusual herbal and almost medicinal nose; floral but from flowers that may be about to turn. Edgy; a touch odd—a hint of Brett? Palate continues with this theme; when one recalls chlorine and seaweed, it is quite likely that something is amiss. 13

Jancis Robinson: Blackish ruby. More black than most of these. Very sweet and opulent on the nose—almost gamey. Not so different from an old Châteauneuf. Rose petals, too. Lovely array of aromas, though the acidity is starting to dominate the fruit. I’d drink this sooner rather than later. Drink 1990–2014. 18
