Alison Buchanan: Black garnet. The nose here is slightly twisted, with a combination of metal and mineral notes and rather faded fruit. This is echoed on the palate, though this is better, silkily textured, slightly ethereal, but lacking intensity and focus. Easy-drinking charm now. 14

Jancis Robinson: Red/garnet. Warm, ripe, subtle perfume, bright fruit upfront, wood kicking in afterwards, not dominant but noticeable. Finish a bit astringent but would work with food. Drink up, though. 15

Jeremy Watson: Now this has depth. Ruby colour with profound aromas of the fruit and oak tannins. Good, full mouthful that shows a wine with lots of life left in it yet. This could become great. 18
