Tim Atkin: Developed brick red. The nose is quite traditional, with gamey tertiary notes. The palate is appealingly dry and serious, with clove and pepper spice, concentrated yet evolved tannins, and a firm finish. There’s a Pinot Noir-like dimension to the fruit, but with a drier, more rigorous backbone 16.5
Nicolas Belfrage: Medium deep, with orange turn on the rim. Mature, somewhat decadent plum/ prune nose, with hints of leather and herb. Ripe fruit on the palate, with good, firm acid backbone making for a dry back palate, with smooth if plentiful tannins. Has elegance and depth, but a very slight bitter hit on the back palate gives it a farewell of some severity. On the other hand, it should continue to improve. Drink now to 2020 16
