Nicolas Belfrage: Deepest color so far—suspicious? Possibly. The nose is opulent and redolent of black fruit; the palate is plummy and ripe like no other wine so far. In fact, it’s a jolly good drink, with its ripeness and roundness and lowish acidity, but is it typical? Do we care? Isn’t it the most drinkable wine here? Ah, the conundrum of Italian wines— for drinking now; has tannins to last despite acidity- 18:
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet core to thin, tawny rim. Open, touch rustic, nutty nose, with prune juice, smoked meat, and road tar. Full body, with mature black fruit and good length. Big wine with little charm- 15.:
Jancis Robinson: Dark ruby, with some rust at the rim. A little closer to fresh leaves than leaf mold on the nose. Quite vibrant fruit. Very sweet flattering start—almost Porty! Quite a nice drink but very distinctive. Sweet and plump. Not unlike [Fratello Alessandria Barolo Gramolere] in structure. Drink 2015–25- 15.:
