Alex Hunt: A sophisticated dessert trolley of a nose, with cinnamon, crème caramel, and prunes in Armagnac. Completely unexpected but impossible not to like! Nicely evolved on the palate, with a similar flavor spectrum to the nose. Acid in check, tannins softened, long sweet finish. Perhaps lacks a bit of vigor but plenty of complexity and enjoyably distinctive- 15
Andrew Jefford: Mid-depth of red-black. Some composty fullness, but this is aromatically unrefined. Light, elegant, smooth, sustained, but without much precision or purity. Agreeable in the right context, but it won’t convert the unconverted- 11.5
Simon Larkin: More evolved in hue, and aromatically this is far more savory. The palate shows some evolved berry fruit, sous-bois notes, and an almost minty lift. Supple, mid-weight and not at all imposing, this maturing example is underscoring by the typical rasping acidity of this flight. Nonetheless, the balance is far better than anticipated with the supple, evolving, almost leathery nuanced fruit supported by the life-giving acidity. It still finishes overly lean for my palate- 12
