BUY THE WINE

Alex Hunt: Gorgeously fresh—and very Bordeauxinfluenced— aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, currant leaf, and toast. The palate continues roughly in this vein, but too many joins are showing: Some of the freshness is down to sulfides/reduction; the oak is a bit stiff and disjointed. The fruit, by contrast, is rather sweet. This is a wine I could happily sniff all evening—but I would reach for something neater to drink - 15.5

Andrew Jefford: Saturated dense black-red, even at eight years old. Lots of oak, and the fruit is now just a little bit confined and tinny. Vivid, deep, but a little bit simple; the state of the art has moved on, and I miss the extractive force of the more recent wines in this one. The wine is still struggling to digest its oak, too - 12.5

Jancis Robinson: Dark and very fruity and lively. Maybe not that subtle, but satisfying and well balanced. Congratulations to whoever the maker is on having produced a wine way back in 2004 that is still tasting well today. Transparent. Argentinian. Sweet but not too sweet. Great balance and interest! Bravo. Drink to 2015 - 17
