BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Super-saturated, ink-bomb of a wine. Very rich, dense, concentrated, touch of reduction, but well made. Needs time in bottle to emerge. All the components are there: oak, fruit, and acidity. Meat and spice and oak. 3–5 years- 17.5

Alex Hunt: Closed, appealingly austere blackberry aromas. Focused, mineral palate; not hugely complex, but well balanced and pure. A good expression of the variety- 14.5

Anthony Rose: Good dense youthful ruby, very spicy and peppery in aroma, fine concentration and black-cherry and blackberry-fruits opulence here, with a lovely seductive midpalate richness infused with spice; still youthful, this is a finely crafted, textured Syrah with cool-climate pepper and yet sufficient firm backbone and balancing savory fresh acidity to maintain the fruit for several years- 18
