Nicolas Belfrage: (cc: water-pale = 1; deep gold = 9) cc3. Distinctly scented on nose but not loud. Creamy rich palate that flatters at first—but I suspect it would be hard to finish a bottle. Very good but somewhat OTT . Still, I’d be happy to drink one glass, maybe two. Drink with soup? Rather on its own- 16
Marcel Orford-Williams: This may be more interesting. There are mushrooms on the nose—something that the Italians didn’t have. Proper PG smell. This is full and rich, and yes, there is some sweetness, but there is also good grip, so the sweetness is well managed. Finish is good and clean, and I can see myself having a glass or two with a filet mignon maybe- 17
Joanna Simon: Bright, medium-pale, with a whisper of green. Fresh, floral, lightly creamy nose. Ripe-fruit palate, with vivid apricot and some tropical notes. Persuasive smoky and spicy flavors, too. Fair bit of residual sugar, off-set by attractive, soft appley acidity. A full, ripe style; slightly high alcohol on the finish, but lots of varietal character well expressed- 15
