Andrew Jefford: Full pale gold. The aromatic profile here is slightly hard-contoured and nugget-like, without the fresh appeal of the youthful charmers or the deep, pool-like limpidity of the more restrained grandees; green apple packed in cardboard. Nonetheless, still attractive, to be fair. Concentrated and vivacious on the palate, with lots of appley charm: Bramley, Granny Smith, and just a touch of Russet. No oxidation, though, so nothing cidery at all: fresh-flavored. A very fair example, though not one of the best for me 13.5
Andreas Larsson: Nice intensity, bright and clean fruit: fresh pear, citrus, and some herbal notes. The palate is crisp, with green-fruit flavors; decent length but without complexity 12.5
Stephan Reinhardt: Clear and bright greenish white-yellow. Ripe and fresh fruit aromas, quite concentrated and deep, but quite closed. A wine like this could perhaps (perhaps!) benefit from large oak vats because it seems to be caged now. Thus, I would pour it into a decanter for two or more hours. On the palate, the wine is very firm and mineral, powerful, rich, and very complex, but again it seems to be caged and would maybe benefit from oxygenation. Very mineral soul. A pure, intense, persistent, and most likely great Loire wine that is made not for tastings but for storage. Enjoy in four years or so 17.5
