Andrew Jefford: Pale water-green. Lots of thiols here: a sweaty, leafy charm. Soft, vivid, fresh, and engaging—the varietal personified. No evident minerality; not particularly vinous, either. Charming, quaffable wine, but not a lot to detain you for the length of a bottle. A dryer finish than many in the New Zealand bracket 13
Andreas Larsson: Clean and fruity nose, with hints of passion fruit and white pear. The palate is fresh, with pure fruit and a rounded texture—not really bone-dry compared to the French examples, though clean, fresh, and well made 12.5
Stephan Reinhardt: Color like water (almost). Sexy nose, light, pure, and fruity, very well done, inviting you to drink it without sniffing too long. Racy attack, rhubarb aromas, fruity and quite sweet. Even if the acidity/residual-sugar issue is very prominent, without another dimension (minerality or complexity), it is impossible to balance a sweet or sour wine. At the end of the day, I find this wine nice—but it lacks complexity, and I cannot imagine having a second glass of it 14
