Andrew Jefford: Pale gold. Attractive, stealthy scents of summer fruits, warm grasses, cream, honey, goose down. Not as articulate as some, but rewards the nose at every dip in. On the palate, this is an impressively concentrated white wine with ample complexity and depth to it. Attractive flavors of orange and lemon and peach. The acidity is there, setting out a fence to the garden; it has structure, glycerol, and persistence. Another truly excellent white blend, setting new standards for the southern hemisphere. Pithy, vibrant finish: a gloriously satisfying and subtle drink. 94
Andreas Larsson: Pure, generous, and fruity at first, quite a lot of aromatic intensity, with grapey and floral notes; with aeration, more stone-fruit notes emanate from the glass, quite discreet oak and some nutty notes. A finely tuned palate, with good extract and zest; there’s both a clear notion of ripe fruit and crisp freshness, toned-down oak, a fine spiciness and convincing length, which combines ripe fruit and stony mineral notes. 87
Jancis Robinson: Pale gold. A blend of ten different grape varieties! Sweet start and then some Chenin tension. Lots of youthful fruit to get your teeth into here, even though the wine is four years old. Some reductive smokiness. Good and racy. Very complex and lifted blend of flowers and herbs— very quintessential Cape. Super-tangy, with some bitterness. Probably not yet at its peak. Drink 2013–19. 90
