Tim Atkin: Intense purple. Porty, sweet, savory nose. Masses of alcohol and flavor. A very big wine, verging on overripeness. Firm, if slightly dry tannins, and dense, powerful fruit. Almost a wine on steroids, but the fruit can cope. I’d like to see this in another five years. Impressive, but needs fining. 16

Alex Hunt: Striking nose of black fruit, cumin, and mature Parmesan. Heavy extraction on the palate, and a metallic seam that is not particularly pleasant. 12

Anthony Rose: Dense, deep color. Quite sweet, ripe, and opulent on the nose, densely packed black fruits with some sweetness and richness, but rather chunky, extracted tannins that need time to soften. Will they outlast the fruit, or will the dryness kick in first? I wouldn’t bet my house on this one—it’s so dry and extracted that it’s not giving pleasure now. Will it in the future? 14.5
