BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin: Inky purple. Big, bold, very ripe nose. Porty palate, dry and tannic. Extracted. Unbalanced. Some Cabernet Sauvignon? Hard to see this improving. 12

Alex Hunt: Roasted black-fruit aromas and creamy-spicy notes. An overextracted, aggressive wine. 11.5

Anthony Rose: Vivid color. Still youthful and perfumed, with rich and concentrated black fruits on the nose. Chunky, dry tannins and a muscular texture on the palate. Too dense and chewy at the moment, and like its immediate predecessor [2005 Cuvelier Los Andes Grand Malbec], more impressive than pleasurable. 14
