Santa Rita Casa Real Reserva Especial Cabernet Sauvignon Valle del Maipo Chile 2020 (14% ABV) – 90.7
SF | Dense ruby garnet. The nose offers rosehips, figs, spruce, and blueberry. The palate is evolving nicely, with a hint of undergrowth and wild strawberry; composed and serene, with a mid-palate weight that both underlines the quality of the fruit and also demonstrates that the aging curve is beautifully rendered. 91
AR | Youthful in color and still a tad quiet in aroma, this is quite tight and primary in its fruit structure, fresh red berries perfectly ripe, even quite juicy and approachable at such a young stage of its development; perhaps too approachable? The only question mark is whether there's sufficient fruit concentration, sufficient middle, and I'm not really getting quite enough satisfying fruit sweetness, so quite how this wine will develop with further time in bottle remains to be seen. 89
DW | Softly engaging, succulent red- and black-fruit compote; generous and fleshy, with fine, ripe, polished tannins; flattering and easeful, without being facile; there's a lot of character and detail to the fruit, and it finishes with a flourish. 92
