Pluenta Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Agrelo Mendoza Argentina 2020 (14.5% ABV) – 89.3
SF | Bright ruby, softly tapering. An attractive nose of summer pudding, mint, and rosemary, roses at dusk and the faintest whiff of jambon cru. The palate is elegant, the red-fruit profile underscored by a spicy cadenza, lifted and poised. The structure is deft, filigree-like, with powdery tannins, firm on the finish. Very complete, approachable but built to last. Tasting very well today, without any need for prognostics. 91
AR | Quite evolved in color for such a youthful red, this is fresh and pleasingly aromatic, combining fruit and oak nicely; there's a pleasing sweetness of ripe blackcurrant fruit framed by a firmish structure of youthful, albeit slightly drying, tannins, offset by refreshing acidity. But overall, I find that the drying tannins poke through just a little too much, and I fear for its future development, so I would tend to drink this sooner rather than later. 90
DW | Young and vibrant fruit, a touch of floral perfume; cherry and blackcurrant, high-toned; the oak is still a little present, flattening the fruit a little on the palate; it's quite tight, if not quite mean, but there's a real high-altitude brightness to that fruit, which is very beguiling. 87
