BB | Garnet to orange. Closed, austere, mineral nose, with small red fruits and cedar wood. Medium to full body, with fine tannins, layered prunes, plums, red and black cherries, and a long, smoky, herbal finish 93
AJ | Dark, clear black-red; deeper hues than most. A simpler spectrum of cherry fruit than many: sweet, bright, but it lacks the backlight of freshness that so many of the others seem to have. A touch of sileage also, though this is almost a complexing factor here. Full, fleshier than most, shimmering with those cherry fruits and backed by comely tannins; a lower acidity than many. Pure pleasure from Etna here; a lovely wine to drink before long. 89
MP | Inviting, juicy nose of wild strawberry, bramble, cooked plum, black cherry, dried rose, and cranberry. Oak brings hints of truffle, cedar, and wet leaves. There is genuine concentration of fruit here, and not just a whiff of new oak—the palate is driven by plum, cherry, rose petal, and strawberry, supported by creamy notes of vanilla and dark chocolate. Consumers looking for a dramatic style of Etna Rosso could do worse than stop here—there is much to savor. 96
