BB | Garnet to light orange. Mature, smoky nose, with plum, red cherry, dried herbs, fennel, and orange peel. A layered palate with fine tannins, complex and mineral, with red and black fruit and a refined, elegant, inviting finish. Another great Nerello, just a touch closed at present. 94
AJ | Translucent dark black-red. Moist, dark earth the primary aromatic note here, with some rue and crushed licorice root. Refreshing, tonic, and distinctive aromatic profile. Deep, grippy, serious, sound, firm. More brooding and palate-driven than many, with less aromatic enchantment. But hugely satisfying, glowing yet fresh, architectural though never crass or monumental. Super wine. 92
MP | Complex notes of cooked plum, red cherry, damp earth, dried rose, hedgerow, cedar, licorice, and clove. The tannins are present and correct, with the supporting acidity offering a further endorsement of the wine's structural integrity, but the fruit dies away on the finish, raising questions about future development. Another case of too much oak spoiling the overall balance. 90
