AJ | Dense, deep, saturated black-red. Poise, freshness, charm and an inviting, mouth-watering quality: this wine realises the vintage very faithfully (notably in terms of its resourceful yet fresh fruit profile) and in so doing draws in the drinker. The oak is very successfully incorporated here, and it gives the wine the sense of being gently cosseted and broadened out without ever losing that diagnostic poise. On the palate, the wine is relatively slight and smooth in textural terms; all the drama is in the searching, architectural fruits and their acid backbone, which is sprightly and athletic (typical for the commune in this vintage). Appetising, mouth-watering: all the claretty classicm here.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2034. 94
MS | Fruit filled to smell, black fruit ripe and also markedly minerally – that so revealingly Bordeaux telltale in a blind line up – and here too, that hint of a noble herbal complexing character; full and rich and firm and gently sinewy, fresh in acidity, fine in firm tannin; deep and rich in flavour, black-fruit ripe, gravel scented, almost juicy at its core, but with considerable complexity and great length of flavour, all within the characteristically slightly firm frame, long to finish … and fairly long to wait too. Drink Dates: 2037 - 2055+. 94
