AJ | Deep, clear, translucent and bright: scarlet almost to the rim, where you'll find a little fawn. Sweet, warm and pure; long and velvety: almost a succulent aromatic sweetness here. Brambly and autumnal. Symphonic and very good. When I come back to this 10 minutes later, it is even better: grand harmony and seduction. On the palate, this is a briskly fruited wine with plenty of resource and drive. It's actually quite tight still (the aromatics have opened up a little further than the flavour elements have as yet); you'll still find an exuberant and welcoming style despite that tightness, and good things await. Hugely enjoyable 2019 Barolo.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2036. 92
BB | Garnet to orange. Open, petrol, earthy, red and black cherries, hazelnuts nose. Full body, mineral, balanced, fragrant palate. Approachable with long, herbal finishDrink Dates: 2025 - 2035. 92
MP | Fresh, juicy and inviting this has a gorgeous core of bright red fruit including cherry, plum, damson, mineral notes, cedar, cut wood and liquorice. The palate is marred by the enormous level of wood-derived tannins that drive the length and refuse to let the fruit get a word in edge-wise. Nebbiolo does not need either small or new oak and time will not help this.Drink Dates: 2024 - 2030. 91
