Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep, going on opaque, but garnet rim. Floral nose hinted at, rather than clearly stated. Quite classic with somewhat hard tannins and pronounced acidity but plenty of stoffa to make a fine bottle years on. Drink 2015+. 17
Andrew Jefford: Dense black-red, shading to a glowing garnet. Surely some sweet oak here, yet it blends attractively with the ripe black-cherry and bramble fruit to give an aroma of great seductive force. Classy wine, you feel, and snatched from the vineyards at the very apogee of ripeness. On the palate, this is an arrestingly concentrated, authoritative wine: wonderful fruit power here, allied to unbrutal, fine-textured tannins. There is plenty of ripe, black-fruit acidity to lift and power the palate, but the fruit clings on to the end, which has great power and harmony. All that it lacks (though this may be a plus for some drinkers) is a sense of ripe-vintage generosity; it is just a little too restrained and poised for that. But unquestionably one of the finest wines in the tasting, full of intricacies that will unfold over the decade to come. 17.5
Franco Ziliani: Dark ruby color, almost opaque. Great masses of ripe fruit, plum more than cherries or raspberries, with tobacco, leather, earthy, mineral notes, underbrush and black pepper with some spicy accents. Broad and rich on the palate, with velvety ripe tannins, great length; persistently, richly savory; warm, structured. Very young now; will surely improve in five to ten years. Buy and hold in your cellar. 17
