AJ | Dark black-purple red; just a little off opaque. Sweet and enticing, without the leafy notes that freshened Les Hauts. Rounded, soft-focus yet brisk, too, with the urgency of the vintage to it. In this case, the Grand Vin stands head and shoulders above the second wine: concentrated and resonant, quite brisk and boisterous for Margaux, with ample well-ripened fruit. Satisfying and well-proportioned wine for the mid-term, with supportive tannins and fruit-bonded acidity; excellent depth and tenacity, too. Drink Dates: 2027 - 2038. 90
SF | Inky black, a shadowy intrigue foretold. Uncompromising aromatics marry wet coal, violet and white pepper, concentrated but natural, richly fruity ( almost pastille flavours) yet with a powerful savoury undertow which carries everything in its wake and is careless of the challenges posed by the vintage in terms of concentration and structural ingenuity. The velvety tannic wrap is impeccably well judged and seals the qualitative appreciation. Drink Dates: 2029 - 2043. 93
