Tim Atkin: Big, super-ripe. Very high in alcohol, quite extracted. Raisiny, rich, concentrated, sweet oak. Tannins a little firm and dry, alcohol, too, in evidence. This tastes as if it could be a southern Portuguese red, or something from Manchuela. Modern. 13

Jesús Barquín: Medium to deep cherry. Very powerful, overdone in ripeness and oak use, and massive tannins. It is no less true that it is too early to tell where it is going, but I would say that this, like some others, lacks balance. Modern. 13

Marcel Orford-Williams: Gorgeous fruit. Quite blunt but sweet. and ripe and recognizably Rioja. Still needs time. 15
