Tim Atkin: Deep, saturated color. Smoky, meaty, very aromatic. Braai time. Rich and alcoholic, but with well-integrated oak. Good acidity and balance, very peppery but with lovely sweet fruit and Asian spices. Touch of burned rubber, but it doesn’t detract from the wine. Fresh finish, good balance; should age for 3+ years. 17
Gerard Basset: Deep ruby. Very pronounced nose—eucalyptus, cassis. Powerful structure, ripe tannin, black fruit, medium-long finish. 16.5
Anthony Rose: Good, medium, smoky paprika and peppery aromas that are rather attractive; good volume of dark fruits and sun-dried-tomato concentration; lightly smoky oak, fresh acidity, and supple, juicy tannins that make this red approachable now; in fact, so forward that it may be at its best in its youthful manifestation. Distinctly Cape, but in a positive way. 16.5
