Bruno Besa: Garnet to ruby, pink. Open, petrol, small-red-fruit nose, with dried herbs, violets, rose water, and a chalky, mineral character. Medium-bodied, balanced palate, with refined tannins, sweet red fruit, and a long, mineral finish. 93
Andrew Jefford: Bright, light, and clear. The fruits here are a little strained and retained, almost part-tinned ... lacks the freshness and grace we hope for. Some reduction as well as slightly disappointing fruit expression. Enjoyable here in flavor terms—a tenor mid-weight—and the fruit itself has purity and finesse. Potentially a good wine, and perhaps the aromatic issues will resolve themselves with time, but as they come from the bottle just now, they put something of a handicap on the wine. 87
Michael Palij: Delicate, elegant aromas of red plum, damson, and cherry overlaid with hay, earth, Bovril, and blackberry. Very pretty on the palate, with subtle oak notes allied to candied red fruit, boysenberry, Bing cherries, and vanilla. While this lacks the extra dimension of the finest examples, it’s thoroughly enjoyable and ready to go now. 92
