Nicolas Belfrage: Slightly deeper than [Castello di Verduno Barolo Massara] but still luminous. Delightfully aromatic nose redolent of roses and (dare I say?) tar. A blast of fine fruit on the palate, with very good acidity and well-achieved tannins, holding the wine nicely in place on the finish and providing for very good length. A fine bottle indeed. Drink 2015–30. 18
Andrew Jefford: Clear garnet throughout. Very dry and leafy on the nose; unattractive in this company. Some depth of fruit on the palate but lacks resonance and finesse. 12
Franco Ziliani: Dark ruby color; concentrated but with a bright light in the glass. Very rich, dense, intense ripe fruit aromas with plum, black cherries, tobacco, and licorice notes, also with some black pepper, rosemary, dried-orange notes, and cinnamon. Very dense and luscious. Broad and harmonious on the palate, loads of fruit, great structure and intensity, but with tannins slightly aggressive. A lack of balance and harmony at this moment. Still very young but can improve and be better in the coming years. 16.5
