Bruno Besa: Light garnet to pink. Floral, refined, clean, transparent nose, with sour cherries, violets, rose petals, tar, chalk, forest undergrowth and aromatic dried and fresh herbs. Youthful and pristine. Medium to full body palate, balanced yet not as convincing as the nose with moderate length and complexity. 92
Andrew Jefford: Bright, clear, deep red. Much sweeter, more primary fruit than its peers: singing cherry. Yes, that’s exactly what you find on the palate ... and then you realize that there is a great whacking swinging pendulum of tannins and suddenly you realize you have a much more serious wine than that aromatic cherry seduction sketched out. That’s the Barolo deal, folks! All the profundity, all the drive, all the seriousness is buried deep inside those magnificent tannins. Super stuff. 92
Michael Palij: Obvious nose, with cloying notes of candied red fruit, tinned strawberries, and cherry compote overlaid with a volatile note of black cherry and spice. The palate of this wine is lovely, though, with no obvious oak compromising the balance of fruit and tannins. 90 Ruby to garnet. Tobacco, leather, petrol, tar, wild strawberries, mint, truffles—another spectacular Nebbiolo, open and mature, super- refined and complex. Weightless and mature at the same time, with refined tannins and lively acidity. Long and mineral, maybe lacking only a bit of exuberance. | 94
