Bruno Besa: Garnet to tawny. Open, tobacco and leather nose, with prunes and black cherries and hints of smoke and tar. Medium to full body, slightly challenging tannins, and some green on the finish. 89

Andrew Jefford: Clear, bright black-red, translucent. Earthy, just a little grunty; fresh, ripe, and resonant fruits, with a touch of farm and clay. On the palate, too, this is an almost primeval Barolo of considerable force, power, and drive; huge tannins. Dense, solid stuff for aging, and lots to enjoy when you eventually uncork the bottle. 90

Michael Palij: Very ripe nose of baked black fruit, including cooked plum and cherry. There are notes of sweet spice and vanilla from oak. The finish suffers from a slightly oxidized note of caramel and toffee, with maderized overtones and a lack of freshness. 86
