Simon Field | Subdued pale gold; then a subtle an intriguing nose; dried apricot, orchard fruit, pale tobacco, and a hint of almond essence; the whispers of exoticism held in reserve. The palate is a touch more prosaic; concentration is missing, maybe in the name, successfully achieved, of preserving a harmonious balance. Mission accomplished, in that sense, but there is still a lingering disappointment, courtesy, no doubt, of the rigors of the vintage... | 87

Andrew Jefford | Paler than many, though still an emphatic straw-lemon. Lovely, rich botrytis, wax and lanolin scents here, though less extravagant fruit than many. So rich—but at the same time almost restrained and delicate in this generally generous year. Soft, lush, smooth, harmonious, elegant, and attractive, with delicious chiffonade, Chantilly cream, and millefeuille finesse. Lovely vinification and use of oak; tender if discreet acid support. Thoroughly classy Sauternes, though less of a belter than the top wines. | 91
