Andrew Jefford | Dark, saturated red-black in color; opaque at the core. Lovely aromas, with ample leaf, plant, tea-leaf, undergrowth, and dried cèpe notes over fruits that seem to be more raspberry than blackcurrant this year. Complex and refined: outstanding élevage here. Vivid, fresh, relatively light, aerial, and curranty on the palate, though intricate in its design. True to the vintage; the fruit is lean and sculpted, quivering with acidity. Savory, mouthwatering tannins lend the acidity an extra energy and allure. Very fine-grained Cos, and the concentration (and intricacy) will ensure it endures. It doesn’t have the fruit width of Calon-Ségur in textural terms nor the lapidary density of Montrose, but there’s more refinement here, and its aromatic articulacy almost succeeds in suggesting a little summer warmth. | 92
Michael Schuster | Black-red; dense and aromatic, overall closed to smell, but you sense its subtlety and finesse at once; medium-full, fairly concentrated wine with a firm acidity and firm tannin. Freshly ripe and aromatic to taste, long and subtle within the year’s cool register. A fine, complex, and complete wine; it will need of time to mellow but will guarantee a tautly contained, classy reward. 2031–45+. | 93
