Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep. Gently perfumed nose, clean and pure. Good acid-fruit balance, neither over- nor understated. Plummy/pruney fruit of good intensity, with firm but positive structure. Traditional style. Drink 2016+. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep black-red clearing to light red at rim. Very attractive nose of relatively high-toned cherry fruit qualified by a little fresh rose. Assertive, yet rich and complex; almost chocolaty at the very end. Deep, firm, grippy; very classical here, with the channel of fruit firmly incised and edged into place by great gravel banks of tannin. An authoritative wine of indubitable grandeur. The old cragginess, though, is much in evidence: Don’t come to this wine if you want something international and urbane. If you’re ready for the purest classicism, though, it commands respect. 17
Franco Ziliani: Ruby-violet color with a very good brightness. A rich, fresh, and complex nose, with floral notes that dominate. Fresh mint and balsamic notes, and ripe but not overripe plum, spices, licorice, and leather. Very appealing and interesting for its purity and integrity of fruit; broad and rich on the palate, with solid but not aggressive or astringent tannins. Richly savory, good and balanced acidity, long and full-bodied finish. Very young, and will surely improve for 10 or more years. Buy and hold in your cellar. 16.5
