Nicolas Belfrage: Typical mid-depth color with turn on rim. Floral but slightly soapy (in the sense of perfumed) nose. Well-balanced palate with firm acid, ripe tannins, and complex floral-fruity aromas. Give it two years, then 10+. 17
Andrew Jefford: Fully clear, now, with a garnet core shading to light red. Charming soft red fruits on the nose: redcurrants and mulberries, mingled with a little blood-fur warmth. More than correct: enticing and appetizing. An amply structured wine on the palate: plenty of tannin-clad fruit (the same register); gorgeously ripe, singing acidity; lots of texture and power; but at the same time a shapely, unbrutal and uncraggy wine that is not at all difficult to drink. All that it is missing is a sense of central-palate concentration and breadth to assure long-term development, but this is copybook Barolo right now, and I’d love to drink it tonight. 15.5
Franco Ziliani: Deep, intense, dark ruby color. The nose is rich, complex, elegant, and very charming: plum, cherries, licorice, leather, and underbrush notes. Spicy accent, with a hint of mint that gives more freshness to the bouquet. Very balanced, ripe and fleshy tannins, with a long finish. Very young, will improve over 10 years. Very good. 17
