Nicolas Belfrage: Medium-deep, with quite a developed rim. Inviting floral nose. Beautifully understated fruit in perfect balance with the structure, cherry and spice. Very complete and complex. Drink from 2018 and for 20+ years. 18.5
Bruno Besa: Deep garnet to tawny rim. Open, clean, spicy, small-black-fruits nose, with prunes and hints of cloves and cedarwood. Full body, a touch simple on the black-fruit palate, yet clean and fairly long. 16.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep, clear, garnet red. Lots of fresh plum fruit, with just a touch of murkiness. Deep, long, earthy, warm, concentrated, and textured, but this murkiness is bothering me, so let’s see if there is another bottle. Bottle 2: Better. Deep, clear, garnet red. Bright, fresh, sunny plum fruit in an open, engaging, affable style. An added creamy layer fills and thickens the mixture; almost a note of lanolin. Very attractive. Limpid, round, deep, and warm on the palate, with lots of force and sap to it; splendid, teased ripeness; and great length and amplitude. The only thing that holds it back from one of the higher scores is a slight lack of focus and detail, but every Barolo lover would enjoy drinking this. 16
