Simon Field | A mid-gold fleece; legs dance with abandon. The nose is restrained: pumice stone, peach kernels, even a hint of white pepper... Then the palate cascades with indulgent viscosity, the acidity buttressing expertly along the way, the spicy mineral edge holding the ensemble together with real aplomb. This is a delightful wine that we have here. | 93
Andrew Jefford | A deep, comely gold; glowing allure. Pure, fine, and penetrating; great draughts of marzipan, lemon balsam, honey, and apricot pastry. Super stuff—both fresh and seductive. Intense, close-textured, succulent, deep, long, and hugely resonant: grandiose Sauternes. Very concentrated and sweet, yet finely detailed, with honey, walnuts, almonds, lemon, pineapple, apricot, nectarine, peach... Almost anything that you might find in this appellation is here. Wonderful concentration, depth, drive—and harmony. As good as it could be in this vintage, and a grand sweet wine by any measure. The perfect Sauternes to set alongside Doisy-Daëne, should you want to contrast the styles of Barsac with Sauternes. | 95
