Simon Field | The embossed Lalique engraving on the bottle (reflecting the common ownership) presages a deft and elegant wine. Its texture is finely balanced, and decadent belle epoque whispers are held in check by botrtyic rigor and a firm finish. | 92
Andrew Jefford | Bright lemon-yellow in appearance, with a fine glint to it. Lovely, soft, honey-seeping botrytis richness here, with marzipan, baklava, and orange complexities: a super nose. Further layers to come with time, for sure: just a little inchoate and disorganized at this stage. Ultra- rich on the palate, and very thick and silky; lashings of honey and almond to coddle and swathe the tongue. Fine, luxury wine. As at some other properties (Rayne-Vigneau, Sigalas-Rabaud), it’s hard to believe that this is actually a second wine, since it would exceed first-wine quality in many vintages. Magnificent depth and authority here, and you will need to wait a few years to see the best of this. Luscious, gratifying, and sumptuous. Surely irresistible value: buy, buy, buy! | 94
