Stephen Brook: Straw. Lime and pineapple on the nose, which is quite heady. Rich and plump, with ample weight of fruit, concentrated but not to excess. It retains fair acidity, which keeps the wine discreet and gives some finesse. Fairly complex, with a fine balance between exotic fruit and poised freshness. Quite good length. 16.5
Alex Hunt: This comes close to the mark in terms of varietal character. There are aromas of apricot and apricot kernel, though also some slightly cardboardy notes. The palate nails the luscious-pithy texture, with almost enough fruit brightness. The finish is just a little dusty. 14.5
Andrew Jefford: Deep green-gold. Excellent aromatic profile: subtly stated floral notes (honeysuckle and citrus blossom), with soft, cut summer stone fruit. There’s a little sweet nougat behind and (I’m just about guessing) the subtlest oak influence to smooth in a little extra aromatic nuance and richness. On the palate, it is less subtle than the aromatic profile suggested it would be, but this is still a sincere effort to make a fine Viognier in a southern-hemisphere site where the variety seems happy to me. A juicy, citrus-rich mouthful with plenty of perfume to keep dragging you back into the glass. 16
