BUY THE WINE

Essi Avellan | Deep, peach-toned yellow color. Quite a pronounced appley nose, with biscuity, woody, waxy, and yeasty notes. A touch oxidative and showing evolution alongside prominent oakiness. Soft, rich, and textured on the palate, with a foamy mousse. There is also dried fruit on the generous palate. Very ready to please, soft and open. | 90

Simon Field | Green gold, opalescent to the light, small, elegant bubbles. The deeper color betrays ripeness and an indulgently oaky in the upbringing. The palate is stretched, creamy, with hints of sourdough, lemongrass, and glycerol; an indulgent peroration. The style suits the vintage, generous to a fault. There are no faults here, and the flavors grow in the glass and will continue to develop in the bottle, too. A very distinctive style and an archetype for those who subscribe to its indulgent charms. | 93

Anthony Rose | Behind the pale golden hue of this Champagne, there’s an intense and expressive aroma thanks in large part to a certain creamy butteriness derived from overt oak, which is alluring, albeit a tad dominant. The vanilla nuttiness that stems from the oak continues in the flavors. Though less dominant, the fruit flavors work their way through to combine in a full-flavored, savory richness of texture. An oxidative winey character, for sure, too: white-Burgundy-with-bubbles style, finishing satisfyingly fresh and dry. If you like a bit of oak in your Champagne, you’ll love it. If not, you may find it a tad excessive. | 94
