BUY THE WINE

Tim Atkin | Ripe, fig-like, and a little oxidative on the nose. Quite evolved. Herbal, rich, and concentrated with some balsamic notes, chalky and rich with firm tannins. Slightly extracted on the finish. | 88

Simon Field | Rich regal-ruby. Nose of plum and damson, hint of briary and woodsmoke. The palate is dominated by blue fruits, intense and concentrated, a creamy patina of oak in support. Velvety, expressive, and long, the tannins all pervasive at the back with their iron grip. Needs time to open up. | 87

Andrew Jefford | Dark black-red; opaque at the core. Slightly close and a touch reductive, but I’m sure it will clear in a few minutes. (A second bottle requested.) I’m glad we’ve looked at the second bottle, since this has purer fruit and is cleaner and fresher. In style, it seems like a “clay” wine: dense, firm, chunky but prone to reductive notes and would benefit from decanting—but lots on offer. Rich, deep, dense, slightly stewy and elemental, but concentrated and good nonetheless. Firm, dark flavors that take plum out towards prune; fine tannins. | 90
