Simon Field | Attractive butterscotch gold, aureate sun over the harvest-time fields; then a delightfully indulgent palate, pineapple and kumquat, barley sugar and toasted nuts. Velvety and yet with definition; long and resourceful. One to watch, with pleasure, over the longer term. | 91
Andrew Jefford | Deeply colored: a glowing butter gold. Oaky, rich, and generous. Harmonious and rounded, rather than provoking a string of allusions, though lemon, apricot, and dessert apple are all in here somewhere. It has freshness and well as sweet richness. Dense, rich, searching, unctuous, and long: very good. Lovely, buttered lemon richness, but the acidity is terrific, too—a long seam of juicy pineapple and lemon. There’s a honeyed tang and a little wax of age already; deftly oaked and no shortage of botrytis. This totally delivers, and it will elicit sighs of delight whenever uncorked (cork allowing). It’s aging speedily already, though, so I wouldn’t assume you can keep it for another two decades. | 92
